The spring 2011 shows have been and gone and now is the time to begin applying the looks we have seen to your wardrobe, hair and make-up. If you are not too sure what look you want to go to for, then let us take care of the hair side of things.
While some designers opted for natural looking wispy waves, others went all out with glamorous chignons and various other high-maintenance up dos. Here are our pick of the best:
Marc Jacobs: frizzy waves and wild curls with hair accessories – decorate your own hair with oversized flowers and wide headbands. Create waves with a ghd hair straightener and backcomb for extra volume.
Vera Wang: brought back the beehive, high hair, high volume, straighten hair with ghd stylers and backcomb with piles of hair extensions for ultra height.
Tommy Hilfiger: to go with their all-American image they opted for natural looking hair, mostly straight or with a slight wave. Straighten hair with ghd stylers and flick in and out here and there for the illusion of natural kinks, keep hair in a centre parting for this look, very preppy.
DKNY: Low and loose ponytails looped through hair bands or twisted up with invisible grips. Just pull hair back into a ponytail, tie at the very end and the base and then roll the hair upwards and pin to the back of the head. Finish with hairspray and keep grips hidden so the style appears to be floating.
Any of these looks will set you apart from the day-to-day styles we see on even the most stylish ladies. Applying catwalk looks to your hair will only increase your fashion standing in the office. We chose the looks we thought looked best at the shows but also translate to life outside the designer world. These are easy to create looks that will see you through the year.
